Q: Is the frame color that I see online the true and actual color?
A: We all view websites through a wide variety of computer screens. Variety usually translates to different image quality, color hues and saturations. We have paid special attention to editing our frame images using the standard (web safe) color optimization settings so that the majority of our viewers see the frame as it actually looks. While we hesitate to place a guarantee on frame color, we are confident in the images that we have produced. It should also be noted that real wood frames will differ slightly based on the length of moulding that was used to create the frame. Wood grains, knots, and other unique characteristics always tend showcase themselves when picture frames are produced. You might also notice subtle variations in the applied wood stain based on how well it soaked into the frame moulding.

Q: Do you offer custom frame sizes?
A: We can produce just about any frame size possible. Review any of our frame listings and you will find that most frames have roughly 500 stock and custom size options to choose from! If you don't see the frame size you are looking for just contact us to see if we can meet your needs.

Q: What do I do with this packet of hanging hardware I received with my large picture frame?
A: While smaller frame sizes come with pre-attached tab hangers, our larger frames do involve a little assembly before you can hang them on the wall. Q: What is the difference between glass, acrylic and styrene?
A: Good question. All three are used as facing options in our frames to protect and diplay your artwork. Glass is a tried and true material used in picture frames. It provides crystal clear coverage with little glare. The only downside of glass is that it can sometimes break during shipment when used in frames larger than 12x18. To get around this issue, we offer a very durable alternative in acrylic facing. Acrylic (sometimes referred to as plexi-glass) offers the same great coverage and crystal clear protection, but weights slightly less than glass and is flexible, making it a great choice in larger frames. Styrene is our other choice option. Although slightly less scratch resistant and durable than glass or acrylic, styrene still provides protection for your framed art. If you purchase a frame larger than 12x18 and don't upgrade to acrylic, your frame will come with styrene facing by default.

Q: How should I clean my acrylic or styrene facing??
A: Cleaning glass is one thing, but when it comes to cleaning acrylic and styrene one should use extra care. Acrylic and styrene are both comprised of plastic materials. Given their "plexi-glass" qualities, you should NOT clean either with standard glass cleaner and paper towels. These products run the risk of clouding or scratching your clear surface. Instead, use one of many special plexi-glass cleaning products on the market along with a clean, soft cotton cloth. This should keep your face sheet free of dust, fingerprints, static and other smudges while preserving clarity.

Q: What exactly is a rabbet?
A: There are rabbits, and there are rabbets. The rabbet in question is the area within a picture frame moulding in which your artwork fits. Visit our Framing Tips page for a better understanding of what we are talking about.

Q: My frame arrived, but I can't see through the facing that's on it! Why is it blue?
A: What you're actually looking at is protective covering on the acrylic so that it doesn't get scratched or damaged during production or shipping. All you have to do is carefully but easily peel away the covering to reveal the crystal clear acrylic. We should also mention that styrene comes with covering on it as well. Although the protective film is fairly clear, you will definitely want to peel it off before hanging your frame on the wall.

Q: I want matting around my print, but I'm not sure how to correctly measure everything. Can you clear this up for me?
A: We are more than happy to help walk you through this process. Basically, you want to measure from the inside out if you want to figure out the correct frame size. For example, let's assume you have an 8"x10" print that you want matted and framed. The standard matting border width is 2" (unless you have a different width in mind). This means you need to add 2" to each side of the print - which then brings it 12"x14". For an 8"x10" print with 2" matting, you need a 12"x14" frame and 12"x14" matting with an 8"x10" opening size.
